Mount Everest Lodge N0.1 was known as Model Lodge N0.1 from 1921 to 1935. It holds the grand honor of being the
oldest Prince Hall Masonic Lodge in the state of New Mexico.

In the early years, Mount Everest Lodge N0.1 met regularly above a funeral home on 2nd street in downtown
Albuquerque. Sometime in the 60’s era the funeral home burned down completely to the ground, destroying the
business and the lodge entirely. After the fire Mount Everest held their meetings inside the local churches throughout
out the community until 1971 when they regularly started meeting at 901 Edith blvd SE.

During the 70’s Albuquerque hosted two Masonic Lodges. One being Mount Everest Lodge N0.1 & the other Henry N.
Wall jr. Lodge N0.2. Henry N. Wall jr. Lodge N0.2 met regularly on Kirtland Air Force Base. In 1974 under the direction of
Worshipful Master James A. Lewis Mount Everest Lodge N0.1 performed the cornerstone laying at Mount Olive Baptist
Church which still hold services to date and is located at the corner of Gibson and University blvd SE in Albuquerque,
NM. In 1983 Mount Everest Lodge N0.1 & Henry N. Wall jr. Lodge N0.2 merged and became one lodge. They meet
regularly in Albuquerque.

On November 16, 1996, over 250 brothers from all across New Mexico gathered in Santa Fe, NM. The purpose of the
meeting was to sign a compact between the two Grand Lodges of Free Masons that met regularly in this state. The Most
Worshipful Grand Lodge Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons of the State of New Mexico and The Most Worshipful
Prince Hall Grand Lodge Free and Accepted Masons of the State of New Mexico will establish, and implement, full and
complete Masonic recognition and visitation between the two organizations. Our very on PGM Harold H. Bendaw was
then, the sitting, Most Worshipful Grand Master of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge Free and Accepted
